Neurosurgery is a critical specialization that exists only in some hospitals in Jordan, Ibn Al-Hytham is one of those hospitals, and since 1996, the hospital has recruited a number of qualified neurosurgeons who cover all sub-specialties within this field, this was after the establishment of the first specialized center for the treatment of certain brain tumors and congenital arterial and venous malformations, Ibn Al-Hytham was also a pioneer in equipping operation rooms with the devices required for neurosurgery operations, including; a surgical microscope, a specialized endoscope for brain surgeries, advanced navigation devices, a device for taking brain biopsies, and nerves’ monitoring devices during surgical procedures.

Department for neurosurgery, has a specialized intensive care unit for neurosurgical cases and an isolation room. It is the only center in the Middle East recognized globally as a training center by the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies in the field of skull base surgery.

It’s worth saying that Ibn Al-Hytham has obtained recognition from (Arab board of health specializations) for the residency program in the field of neurosurgery.
